Who is a co-signer?
A co-signer is only needed if you are sponsoring your parent, grandparents or other relatives and you as a sponsor do not actually have the required financial funds. In this case if your spouse has the financial required income they can become the co-signer and financially take care of your relatives.

In this case you do not need a cosigner if you are only sponsoring your spouse.
Who is the principal applicant?
This is the name of your spouse who you are sponsoring as well as all their details (where they live, date of birth etc.).
What does Conjugal mean?
If you cannot live with your sponsor as a couple due to reasons beyond your control. Reasons such as immigration barrier, religious reasons or sexual orientation.
Can you sponsor somebody if you yourself are not living in Canada?
If you are a Canadian citizen living outside of Canada you can do the sponsorship from abroad if you can prove you will be returning to Canada in the near future. If you are a permanent resident you can only do this application if you are in Canada (it is ok if you spouse is not in Canada).
